River Sett - Jan 2012 - fishing rights change

There are important changes to the new club book on page 7. The stretch of the River Sett from Watford Bridge to High Hill road bridge is no longer classified as a club water. We no longer longer have fishing rights to fish this stretch, please refrain from fishing this section!

Weed on Disley Dam

Hi all,

over the last few months a programme of works has been carried out on the weed. Weed clearing by mechanical means has taken place, as well as removal from the banks. Straw Bales have also been introduced around the bank sides to help combat the blanket weed. There will be further works in 2012.

Threats to Habitats

Comorants and Goosander continue to be problem Nationally and on our waters, with several spotted throughout the last few months, we endeavour to move these birds on where we can, so a regular vigil is essential to protect our stocks. There have also been reports of mink sitings near our waters.

Match Scene

We are trying to rekindle the match scene this year by running summer evening matches on Watford Logde. The dates are in the new book and are also listed on the website and message board. We are also introducing Junior Matches this year, thanks to the contribution of Chris Simpson, from Simpsons Tackle, Whaley Bridge. Please refer to the match section for further information.
