Disley Dam, 20th July 2010

This is Disley Dam, one of the club's oldest waters the water is available for fishing from the 16th June;a really fine water situated at the edge of the National Trust property in Lyme Park(Disley).Turn right off the A6 coming from Hazel Grove at the Ram's Head pub in Disley or left if coming from Buxon and then immediately across Buxton Old Road into Red Lane, between the pub and the church. Entrance to the site is at the bottom of Red Lane on the right. Car parking is available on the right hand side of the lane but not beyond the DNMAC sign. There is no parking in Lyme. Members are advised to obtain a parking ticket from the Committee,no cost,in order to avoid any misunderstanding from the local residents which happens from time to time. There is no entrance through Lyme Park and no entrance through the Lyme Park railings.Disley Image>Dawn to dusk fishing only. Nightfishing is not allowed. All personal waste material shall be removed along with any other rubbish you may find. The waste bins are in the process of being removed and the onus is on the angler to take his/her waste home. Due to its location and access, this is a very popular site and consequently under a lot of environmental pressure, please ensure that you treat it with respect.

The picture below this text shows an example of the recent work done on the Disley Dam bank to stabilise the bank, making the peg more resistant to erosion. This is only one example of the work that has recently been undertaken by DNMAC members.Disley Image
